In 2002, Rick Kelley was casting about for a new line of business. He had pretty much narrowed it down to either a motel or a laundromat. One fateful day he received a call telling him about the perfect motel, except for one thing the caller advised, "it is in the middle of nowhere." Intrigued after looking at a map, Kelley traveled up from Northwood, NH to look at the property. Once in Houlton, he quickly succumbed to the small town charm and friendly folks of the Houlton area.The rest, as they say, is history.

In the beginning there were only 24 rooms, which stayed filled most of the time. Not one to put out a "No Vacancy" sign, Kelley knew he needed more accommodations and added 14 rooms in 2005-2006. These rooms again remained filled to capacity most of the time. Kelley knew he would have to add on again. In 2008, the addition of fifteen more rooms plus a multifunction conference/banquet room brought the total number of available rooms to 52.

Ivey's location couldn't be better or more convenient for the traveler to this area. Take Exit 302 off Interstate 95, this is the last exit before the Canadian Port of Entry, turn left and then right and you are at Ivey's Motor Lodge. We are conveniently located within walking distance of the Houlton Regional Hospital and three pharmacies. Up and down the street are coffee/sandwich shops, several fast food businesses, and a restaurant. Across the street you will find grocery and department stores; also nearby are gas stations and auto repair shops.

ATV and snow sled enthusiasts can access Interstate Trail System 83 right from our parking lot.
